With 2 races, 64 boats and 84 sailors, the DNG Interiors sponsored regatta was a great success.  The first race (a class pursuit race) started with almost no wind and the different classes starting a few minutes apart. The race was shortened after 1 lap due to the lack of wind.  The race was won by Ashenathi Jim and Ashwyn Daniels on a 420, followed by Stephen du Toit on a Laser and Ali Serritslev on a Finn coming 3rd.

After a very long lunch break (due to no wind again), the second race was started.  This was also a pursuit race where every sailor was given a handicap based on their result in the first race – the front-runners in the first race starting last while those who came closer to the back, starting first.  The last person to start (Ashenathi Jim and Ashwyn Daniels) started 29 minutes after the first boat had started.

The second race was also limited to 1 lap around the vlei.  This race was won by Davey James (one of our sponsors) on a 29’er with Callum and Brevan (also on a 29’er) close on their tail.

The regatta was won by Stephen du Toit on a Laser, 2nd was Ashenathi Jim and Ashwyn Daniels on a 420, 3rd was Kenwin Daniels and Marlon Jones on a 420 and 4th was Vicky Stock on a Dabchick.  Thanks to Nikki and Davey James from DNG Interiors for sponsoring the regatta.  It was a very pleasant regatta and nice to have a change in the style of racing.
