Following on from a very positive AGM, where the subscription increase was given a very positive vote of confidence – 100% for to be exact.

We thought that it would be useful for those members who did not have the opportunity to attend. To have sight of the “ZVYC Financial Analysis and Strategic plans and Objectives” document which sets out where we are, what we have done and where we going as a club. Most importantly, we have tacked and are on a new course heading towards a balanced budget. As I mentioned before tacking and setting a new course takes courage and conviction. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all those members who have stepped up to the plate and offered there assistance to ZVYC, your contribution is much appreciated by all.

We need to rally together through this difficult financial time, and we look forward to seeing you all at the Moulin Rouge party on Saturday the 8th of June!

2012 – 2013

Notice is hereby given that the Eighty-first Annual General Meeting of the Zeekoe Vlei Yacht Club will be held in the Clubhouse at Zeekoe Vlei on April 21, 2013 at 17h00.

Agenda

1. To confirm the minutes of the eightieth Annual General Meeting held on Sunday April 22, 2012
2. To submit and if approved, adopt the audited accounts for the year ending February 28, 2013.
3. To submit and if approved, adopt the Annual Reports for the season ending April 20, 2013

5. To consider and if approved by a two-thirds majority, increase the subscriptions on page 2.

7 To elect a President, Vice-President, Patron-in-Chief and Patrons as well as Honorary Life members, if any.
8 To elect Flag Officers, Chairmen of Sub-Committees, additional members of the General Committee and ratify the election of a Junior Representative.

Time: Whole day – details to follow
Contents: Morning course work, followed by afternoon exam and practical
Cost: R2500. This may reduce depending how many people are interested.
Certification: Skipper Inland Water Category R

The description of the course is as follows:

Skipper of a power driven vessel limited to operating within a port, fishing harbor, tidal river, lagoon, estuary and all inland waters in South Africa. The minimum logged water time required is 25hr,s if you have attended training with a SAMSA approved training institution OR 50hr’s certified by a qualified skipper taking responsibility for tutorship or 100hr’s by yourself.

Last week we spent a day with a film crew who made a 7 minute mini-documentary about our Olympic campaign story for SASCOC which is currently airing on Super Sport as part of the Road to Rio program. It is an insightful and well made piece that tells the story of where each come from, how we have combined and where’re aiming. It features some great shots of us training and sailing, and some interesting interviews particularly with Asenathi’s mom, Wendy Jim.

Our feature in the 40-minute program starts around the 8th minute. Below is the broadcast and repeat schedule.

IF YOU HAVE NOT PAID AND / OR HAVE NOT DISPAYED THE TAG ON YOUR BOAT OR TRAILER BY 31 JANUARY 2012, ALL BOATS AND TRAILERS NOT DISPLAYING TAGS WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE BAYS THEY OCCUPY AND IF NOT THEN PAID FOR AND REMOVED BY THE OWNERS, WILL THEN BE DISPOSED OF BY THE CLUB

The trees in the boat park will be trimmed on January 21st.
